Restricted Operator Certificate-Global Maritime Distress and Safety
System (ROC-GMDSS)

Description:
The course syllabus covers the mandatory minimum requirements prescribed
in Code Section A-IV/2 of STCW'95.
Objectives:
Trainees who successfully complete the course will be able to communicate
use the equipment on board and also able to operate the equipment
so that they know how to send and receive the messages, the required
minimum standard of competence set out in Table A-IV/2 of STCW'95
for seafarers who take charge of use the communication equipment.

o Introduction
o Principles of maritime radio-communications
o GMDSS communication systems
o Other GMDSS equipment
o Distress alerting
o Miscellaneous skills and operational procedures for general communications
o Assessment and discussion
Entry Standards:
This course is open to those seafarers who are required to have a
basic knowledge of ships, maritime radio communication, maritime safety
and the use of the English Language.
Duration: 37 hours
Class capacity: 15 trainees
