Radar Simulator

Description:
The course syllabus covers the mandatory minimum requirements prescribed
in Code Section A-Il/1 of STCW'95.
Objectives:
Trainees who successfully complete the course will be able to make
efficient and effective use of radar in compliance with the COLREG
1972, the required minimum standard of competence set out in Table
A-II/1 of STCW'95 for seafarers who are in charge of navigational
watch.
Course Outline:
o Introduction
o Factor Affecting Performances and Accuracy.
o Setting-up and Maintaining Display.
o Unwanted and Spurious Response.
o Range and Bearing.
o Identification of Critical Echoes.
o Application of COLREG 1972.
o Radar Plotting.
o Parallel Index Navigation
o Danger of Radar Equipment, Maintenance of Radar and Troubleshooting.
Entry Standards:
This course is open to those seafarers who had completed a course
of training which exceeds the requirements set out in Training in
Radar Observation and Plotting.
Duration: 30 hours
Class capacity: 6 trainees
