ARPA Simulator

Description:
The course syllabus covers the mandatory minimum requirements prescribed
in Code Section A-Il/1 of STCW'95.
Objectives:
Trainees who successfully complete the course will be able to take
charge a navigational watch on an ARPA equipped vessel, the required
minimum standard of competence set out in Table A-II/1 of STCW'95
for seafarers who are in charge of navigational watch.
Course Outline:
o Familiarization with the Simulator's "Own Ship" Characteristics
and Controls
o Review of Basic Radar and Plotting
o Open Water Exercise in the Application of COLREG 1972 and the
1989 Amendment
o Exercises in Navigation and Collision Avoidance in Confined and
Congested Waters
o Exercise in and near Traffic Separation Schemes
Entry Standards:
This course is open to those seafarers who had completed a course
of training which exceeds the requirements set out in Training in Radar
Observation and Plotting.
Duration: 30 hours
Class capacity: 6 trainees
